Our Physical Space
Braemar House School has 10 classrooms, including two new classrooms added in 2007. Pictures of each of our classrooms can be seen in our Programs section.
In addition, we have a full sized gym which we use not only for our Physical Education program, but for monthly Formal Assemblies and our school wide Enhanced Learning Days.
We are also fortunate to have a theatrical stage as part of our gymnasium which we put to great use during our Christmas Concerts, Talent Shows and of course our annual Spring Musical.
Equipment
Braemar House School is a not-for-profit, independent private school. This means that 100% of tuition and fundraising dollars are re-invested in our school and our student resources.
Braemar has made significant investments in classroom resources including texbooks and enhanced learning materials. We support our drama and music program with on-going investments in equipment and resources. Except for a once-a-year activity fee, parents are not required to purchase any school materials, pay for class trips or make other investments during the year beyond tuition and their child's school uniform.
Information Technology
Information technology, like most educational resources, is one of many tools in the support of learning. Technology at Braemar is intended to serve students in the achievement of curriculum expectations in all subject areas throughout the day. Students are encouraged and guided to use technology so as to enrich their experience and improve their learning, and not simply as 45 minute weekly lesson.
Braemar has permanently mounted Interactive White Boards in Grades 4 to 8, with plans this school year to install additional boards in Grades 1 to 3. Mini computer labs are set up in each classroom, from Grade 2 to Grade 8, allowing teachers to integrate information technology instruction effectively within our curriculum. Student use of personal laptops is encouraged and supported by all staff. |
