Braemar's elementary school curriculum is comprehensive, with a strong emphasis on Language Arts (including French), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, as well as significantly enriched programming in Information Technology, Drama, Music and Art.
Whole school enhanced learning experiences and grade specific enrichment activities provide unique and motivating learning opportunities for students; field trips, guest speakers, special events, and relevant presentations contribute significantly to our students’ learning.
Each October, students from Grades 1 to 8 complete the Canadian Achievement Tests (CAT 4). We believe the CAT 4 tests provide individualized, highly informative and timely results that allow us to assess each child's strenghts and weaknesses and thereby allow their teachers to better meet each child's needs.
Each year, the majority of our students consistently perform at levels one to two grades higher than the Canadian averages. Click to view - C.A.T. Results 2009
Students are very well prepared for secondary school, with a foundation that is effective and consistent with the expectations set out by the Ministry. We foster excellent study and work habits, while maintaining high academic standards and expectations. For our students, competence in these areas leads to greater self confidence and a sense of achievement, as well as engagement and involvement beyond their Braemar experience.
In addition, our students benefit greatly from our holistic approach to character development through our Citizenship Programs which support, protect and enrich our academic programming.
All our Grade 8 graduates who have applied to the Laurier Program at Brantford Collegiate Institute (a University streamed program) have been accepted.
