The Virtues Project is a holistic approach to character education which shapes and informs Braemar’s Citizenship programs, and is integrated into all our programming. The Virtues Project introduces simple elements of character honored by all cultures and spiritual traditions, and defines them by 52 basic virtues. Braemar uses “the language of virtues" for drawing out the best in our students, inspiring Courtesy, Tolerance, Respect, and Kindness.
The Virtues Project was honored by the United Nations during the International Year of the Family as a model global program for all cultures. This program contains proven strategies for awakening virtues--the gifts within. It represents a holistic approach to character education that shapes and informs Braemar’s other Citizenship programs, with integration into Braemar’s existing curriculum.
The Virtues Project introduces the simple elements of character honored by all cultures and spiritual traditions, and defines them by 52 basic virtues. We use “the language of virtues" for drawing out the best in our students, and employ strategies to inspire Excellence, Respect, Kindness, Commitment and Cooperation in them.
Each month the school celebrates a different virtue, learning together the “affirmation” that accompanies that virtue, and honouring at our Formal Assemblies those in our community who have modeled it. We strive to offer a positive approach to discipline, with restorative justice, in such a way as to turn our school into a community of caring.
